Kontroll

This is kind of a late post because I was sick all week, but in class we watched the movie Kontroll.
Overall I thought it was interesting, and nicely shot, especially knowing there were almost no sets for it. My favorite part was when he's crawling through the hole in the wall, because it has such an aspect of mystery to it. I felt myself sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation. The symbolism in it confused me. I felt like the owl was thrown in carelessly at random times, almost to just fill in an empty space or something. At first I thought it showed up when something bad was going to happen, like a warning sign. I proved myself wrong at the end when it showed up as he was leaving the underground.  I also thought it was too dileberate, because it seemed unrealistic to have an owl in the underground. I think there was more symbolism in the movie that was less blatant in its attempt to make itself known. The girl and her furry animal suit, for example. I think she was the link between the underground world and the above ground world, like a messenger. To me her suit symbolized her being careful and kind to both her dad, the train driver, and the main character of the story, whose name I forget. I also think the trains were less obvious symbolism for keeping the whole thing moving. Basically the whole movie was centered around the them.
